Event comments
In the 17th century Langhorne was a crossroads known as Four Lanes End. The road from Bristol to Durham Furnace intersected the road between Philadelphia and Trenton at the center of town. This intersection is now Maple Ave. and Bellevue Ave. During the Revolutionary War, Langhorne was a refuge for American soldiers. During the Civil War, Langhorne was a station in the Underground Railway connecting with Princeton and New York. In 1876 Langhorne was incorporated and named for Jeremiah Langhorne, an early resident and former chief justice of the PA Supreme Court. In addition to the many historic buildings, other highlights include the Revolutionary Soldier's Burial site and the Catawissa Nature Preserve. The trail through the nature preserve is natural.
