Event comments
Since the formation of the South Texas Medical Center in San Antonio in the 1960's at San Antonio, the various health institutions and medical establishments have erected sculptures and works of art through the years on the various campuses. Through his many walks there, Martin Callahan has identified many of these and has establish two 5k walk loops from the Start/Finish location that feature these exhibits.

Event information
There are no restrooms at the trailhead for the Start/Finish. There are limited restrooms available along the walking routes. The start and finish walking trail is on gravel paths, with the rest of the walk on cement and paved routes. There are no free walks for this event. THE ORIGINAL START AND FINISH LOCATION FOR THIS WALK CHANGED ON OCTOBER 8, 2026. The location sited here now is correct.

Driving to the start
San Antonio Medical Foundation Trail Parking, Ewing Halsell Dr., San Antonio TX.: From San Antonio driving on IH-10 West, turn LEFT on Wurzbach Rd. Turn RIGHT on Ewing Halsell Dr. Turn LEFT into trailhead parking just before Hamilton-Wolf Rd. intersection. From San Antonio North-West, driving on IH-10 East, turn RIGHT on Wurzbach Rd. and follow the same directions from there.The trailhead parking is limited to about 14 vehicles. The Health Careers High School Principal has granted permission for us to use their immediate parking lot, across Ewing Halsell Dr. from the trailhead, for over flow parking. Use the cross walks at the Hamilton-Wolf Rd. and Ewing Halsell Dr. intersection to cross to the start of the walk.
