Event comments

The Cowboy Trail Connection is a Rail-to-Trail route traverses prairie and streams along the old Chicago Northwestern Railroad, dubbed The Cowboy Line. It is part of the Great American Rail Trail. The first mile is crushed limestone multi-use trail; beyond that distance, the trail is currently a dirt singletrack. Follow The Cowboy Line across the prairie and watch for wildlife along the way. Trail users also cross two streams, with the first bridge located near one of the most elaborate historical stone culverts designed by Charles Berg, a fantastic point of interest. The other bridge crosses Big Bordeaux Creek under a sizeable railroad bridge. The trail also takes users within an easy walking distance of the world famous Museum of the Fur Trade, which houses artifacts and exhibits from early colonial days to the present century. The museum highlights one of America's first business enterprises and is located at the original site of the Bordeaux Trading Post, which is listed on the National Historic Register.
