Event comments
Sar-Ko-Par Park is a hidden gem in Lenexa and is even more spectacular at the holidays! There are thousands of colorful lights that wrap trees, bridges, gazebos, and building outlines, reflecting off the water that can be enjoyed after the walk. The 5K/6K walks, will start and end before the sun sets, and are out and back along Little Mill Creek Trail with abundant wildlife. Those walking the 8K/10K will finish after dark so should bring a flashlight or headlamp. There may be streetlights in the neighborhood, but not on Little Mill Creek Trail. The 8K/10K walks continue on Little Mill Creek Trail and then go on sidewalks through neighborhoods back to Sar-Ko-Par Park.

Event information
The route is on smooth, concrete paved trails that wind around Legler Barn Museum and Depot, Lenexa Rose's Pond and a pedestrian bridge. Walkers are advised to dress warmly and wear appropriate footwear if it has snowed recently as there may be some snow and/or ice on the trail/sidewalks. Exact change is appreciated ($4). POC Barb Bormolini, 913-683-3100. Please text/call if you plan to walk and we will watch for you! Last minute cancellation is possible due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Driving to the start
Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park Aquatic Center, 8801 Greenway Ln, Lenexa, KS 66215. From the SW corner of the I-435 loop, take I-435 to W 87th St (exit 3). Turn east on W 87th St passing Red Door Woodfired Grill restaurant on the right. Go 1.3 miles to park entrance at 87th St & Acuff Lane. You will go past the Legler Barn Museum park entrance. Park near the aquatic center. Port-a-potties available in the park. Flush toilets are seasonal. Gas stations within 2 blocks along W 87th St in both directions. Registration will be out of a car.
