Event comments

The Olde Towne Gaithersburg trail (5k and 11k) is mostly on sidewalks, through historic neighborhoods with homes from the 1900 era; there is one street (Walker) on which 5 Gaithersburg mayors once lived and the first street to receive street lights. The Washington Grove trail (11k) is through a tiny town within a forest and an oasis of tranquility. It began in 1873 as a permanent place for Methodist camp meetings (religious retreats.) There is a town hall, narrow Carpenter Gothic cottages with steeply pitched roofs and lacy gingerbread trim. Few streets or car traffic.
