GPS: 37.707297227246784, -117.08941362500573. Walk starts at the county bldg; 233 Crook Ave; Goldfield, NV. Esmeralda County formed 1861. Named for: Esmeralda Mining District, named in turn for the legend that a massive amount of emeralds was buried in what is now Nevada. Esmeralda is the Spanish and Portuguese word for emerald. Visitors will get a sense of what it was like to live in gold rush boomtown in early 20th century.
