Named for: General Nathaniel Lyon (1818–1861), who was killed in action at the Battle of Wilson's Creek. The name of this community honored a prominent man in Nevada and is distinctive. There is no other town named Yerington in the world.

From Treasure Island in Las Vegas (5.75 hours): I-15 north to exit 42A US Hwy 95 north for 350 miles. Take the ALT-95 cutoff in Schurz 24 miles to Yerington. Destination will be on the right.
