It is recommended to start in one of the towns listed on the OSB instructions. There are a few areas to park outside of towns, but be sure you do not block farmer's access to fields or drives. There may be other special programs that are not listed depending on your start points. You may find Par for the Course and Walking with America's Veterans in some of the parks.

Event information

The entire Cowboy Trail in Nebraska is Sanctioned. This trail is 187 miles long (301 km) on a former railbed running from Norfolk, NE to Valentine, NE. This is part of the Great American Rail-Trail and covers six counties in Nebraska. Our instructions will include several starting point suggestions, or, for an interactive map, you can got to https://bikecowboytrail.com/ There are few amenities on the trail outside of the towns, so plan your walk, bring sunscreen and carry water. You must pay the $4 sanction fee for each day you hike.
