Event information

Trail Highlights: Two distinctive non-contiguous walks, separated by a 15-minute drive. Thompson is a rail-trail that features signage regarding a unique four-train wreck (1891), plus a 1K loop to a tristate (CT/RI/MA) border crossing. Putnam, 11 miles southwest of Thompson, offers a scenic walkway along the Quinebaug River, with views of the old textile mills powered by the river’s waterfalls. Considered a “restaurant haven,” with many lunch spots for hungry volkssporters, including the old train depot, a pub and a brewery.
